The wedding/event designer is a specialist in developing a color, motif, theme, or other consistent factor that can be incorporated in every component of your event. This will include everything from the location to the invitation to the favors to the entertainment to the table settings – and much more.
Torry Events specializes in THEME EVENT DESIGN for weddings and parties. A theme can be anything – your favorite hobby; your favorite movie; your favorite sport; your favorite holiday; your favorite time period; anything. We develop the theme concept after a comprehensive inquiry of your hobbies and interests. We then will submit an Event Design Theme Outline for your review, showing how we plan to incorporate the theme into every aspect of your wedding. Theme events are a very affordable way to have a fun and unique event. Read more below for photos and details on our HOT PINK & RED HEART-THEMED WEDDING and our PINK & BLACK FASHION THEMED BRIDAL SHOWER LUNCHEON and our LILY POND THEMED BABY SHOWER.
Our signature is use of lots and lots of color. Color can create any mood or ambiance. We love bold colors. We love pastel colors. We love different shades of the same color. We love untraditional combinations of color. Color is an easy way to make a dramatic statement or exciting impact. We find the right match for your event type, style, ambiance, formality, and event site.
Where budget permits, we will work with special events professionals who are experts in specialty linens, party rentals, props, drapery, lighting design, floral design, etc. to implement your customized event design. If you would like to do something original but don’t have the budget for industry professionals, we will try to find you products and services in untraditional places or find ways to replicate the look you want by making the décor ourselves.
“FOLLOW YOUR HEART”
A Hot Pink & Red Heart-Themed Wedding on a Budget
Inspired by the all-red wedding reception design by Colin Cowie for Gwen Stefani, lead singer of “No Doubt”

- Colors – This was the bride’s second marriage, so she wanted to do something completely different than the traditional white wedding reception she had in past. She was also inspired by a TV show that showed Colin Cowie’ s all-red wedding reception design for Gwen Stefani, and loved the dramatic yet contemporary ambiance it created. She also loved pink, but it was an October wedding, so we used dark red and hot/dark pink throughout the event and used a lot of table lighting to create the romance. The bride was sure to stand out as the only “white” décor of the reception.
- Invitation – We found lots of invitations with hearts, but none shaped like a heart, so we worked with a designer to create a custom tri-fold die-cut heart-shaped invitation with matching response card with the hot pink rose pattern of the reception table runners. It was completely original and set the tone for our event.
- Floral Design – The bride, born in June, loved roses. So we used over 1,000 hot pink and dark red roses to create the bridal party bouquets, boutonnières, ceremony flowers, cocktail tables, reception centerpieces, placecard table and bar arrangements, sweetheart table decorations, line the aisle runner, and decorate the cake for a romantic and contemporary look.
- Décor – Heart-shaped wreaths with red/pink silk roses adorned the church and reception doors were created by the bride’s mother. To create theme chair decorations, the bride’s sisters painted heart-shaped craft wood pieces in wedding colors and addressed them with the names of the bridal party and immediate family. We found silver confetti heart-shaped table numbers. Hot pink & dark red heart-shaped confetti was strewn on cocktail tables.
- Food – For dessert, each guest received a pastry plate that included a custom designed hot pink iced heart-shaped cookie baked by the bride’s cousin with the couple’s monogram.
- Gifts – Silk heart-shaped jewelry music boxes served as Bridesmaid Gifts. Cotton handkerchiefs embroidered with a pink hearts were given to the mothers and grandmothers.
- Special Surprises – A heart-shaped puzzle sent a love message to the groom on the wedding morning.
- Placecards – The venue’s traditional white placecards were themed with a heart-shaped cut-out from leftover invitations we had.
- Guest Favors – A love poem mini-book and heart-themed journal set served as a special guest favor for the women only.
- Planning – Heart-shaped “stickies” were used throughout the planning process and served as placeholders when determining guest seating assignments.
- Reception Tabletop Design – We used dark red linens with dark pink napkins, and a pink & white rose patterned fabric as table runners. Our hot pink & red rose centerpieces were surrounded by lots of votive candles and heart-shaped glass potpourri dishes holding pink heart-shaped floating candles. Red heart-shaped beaded pillar candles decorated the sweetheart table. Red heart-themed cellophane favor bags filled with heart-shaped candies sat on a red heart-shaped doily at each place setting. Careful action was taken to make sure the heart stood out as a symbol of love, and not look too “Valentine’s Day”.

“MAY YOUR MARRIAGE ALWAYS BE IN STYLE”
A Surprise Pink & Black Fashion-Themed Bridal Shower Luncheon
on a Budget
Inspired by the Honoree…A Young, Vibrant Shop-A-Holic and Fashionista!

- Colors – The bride wanted a pink & black wedding, but her fiancé wanted blue & silver and she wanted him to be happy as well. So we decided she shouldn’t miss out on the pink & black color scheme and used it as our shower colors.
- Invitation – We couldn’t find an affordable fashion-themed invitation, so we created one by running pink/black fashion themed note cards through our printer. We inserted party details by making a custom label with photos and theme wording, and sealed the envelopes with handbag stickers.
- Customized Theme Props – A custom-produced hot-pink bridal fashion runway was used at the party entrance, surrounded by black boxes showcasing bridal fashion photo cutouts, evening purses, and special party shoes. A custom-produced pink & black box with bridal fashion photo cutouts served as a themed wishing well.
- Music – Madonna’s “VOGUE” welcomed guests as they arrived on our runway.
- Activities – A mini shopping village stood as a special station where guests could write and decorate a journal entry offering marriage advice to the bride.
- Games – Named “Bridal Fashion through Time”, we created a custom party game where guests at each table could work as a team to review photos and descriptions of various bridal attire through the last 100 years and identify which decade it was from.
- Dress Code – All guests were told that “pink & black” attire was preferred, and the bride was surprised with a new pink & black outfit to wear.
- Food – We decorated a sheet cake with our theme name iced in pink and fashion-themed icing decorations.
- The “WOW” Factor – Fashioned after the “Do’s & Don’ts” Fashion Spread in the back of every issue of Glamour Magazine, we collected and displayed photos of the bride from her birth, childhood and present showing her wearing different fashion trends and created our own photo boards where we determined if she was a fashion “DO” or “DON’T”! The boards served as a special keepsake for the bride’s hope chest.
- Tabletop Design – We used black net tulle as a tablecloth overlay to simulate net stockings. We used wide pink lace ribbon as runners. A mini-ceramic white bridal shoe serving as the guest favor doubled as a table decoration, and each guest received a toy gemstone ring on their plate. The bride’s place setting included a large toy diamond ring for a napkin holder, and fashion-themed ceramic statues. We floated hot pink gerbera daisies, the bride’s favorite, in heart-shaped glass potpourri dishes on the luncheon tables.
- Centerpieces – To give the room height, we flew pink & black helium balloons out of bustier-shaped handbags and black shopping bags stuffed with hot pink tissue paper and decorated with fashion-themed mini-note cards.
- Gifts – Matching pink & black tank tops were given to the bride and her bridesmaids to wear at the bachelorette party. Many guests decided to give pink & black lingerie as well.
…and much more!
